Surface disinfectants — Specification — Part 1: Disinfectants for general use
Abstract

This Rwanda Standard specifies requirements, sampling and test methods for disinfectants intended for
general use on inanimate surfaces including food contact and non-food contact surfaces.
It is applicable to disinfectants represented for use on no-critical medical devices, environmental surfaces and
other inanimate objects.
It does not apply to disinfectants containing iodophor (s) and aldehydes as active ingredients.
NOTE 1 Using this standard, it is not possible to determine the bactericidal activity of the undiluted product. Some
dilution is always produced by the addition of inoculum, standard hard water and sterile skimmed milk.
NOTE 2 If a product complies with the test requirements, it can be considered to be bactericidal, but it should
not necessarily be inferred that the product is a suitable disinfectant/sanitizer for a defined purpose.
