Plastic piping systems for water supply — Unplasticized PolyVinyl Chloride (PVC-U) — Guidance for the assessment of conformity
Abstract

This East African Standard provides guidance for the assessment of conformity for Unplasticized PolyVinyl
Chloride plastic piping systems for water supply intended to be included in the manufacturers quality plan as
part of the quality system.
In conjunction with Parts 1 to 5 of ISO 1452, this standard is applicable to unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride)
(PVC-U) piping systems intended to be used for the following:
a) water mains and services buried in ground; and
b) conveyance of water above ground for both outside and inside buildings; for the supply of water under
pressure at approximately 23°C (cold water) intended for human consumption and for general purposes.
This standard is also applicable to PVC-U piping systems for the conveyance of water up to and including 45
°C. For temperatures between 25 °C and 45 °C figure A.1 in Annex A of ISO 1452-2 applies.
