Abstract

1 Scope and application
1.1 Scope
The main goal of the Weigh Station Procedures is to assist Weigh Station Management and staff
members in effectively operating the Weigh Station with harmonised procedures and objectives. In
order to achieve this goal, this standard details an overview of all procedures and supporting
documentation that are necessary at a Weigh Station.
The Weigh Station Procedures include the following:
Management;
Operations;
Maintenance;
Incident Management and Emergency Protocol;
Environmental Management Plan; and
Workplace.
This document contains a description of all accreditation criteria to be used for the Weigh Station
Procedures evaluation. These minimum requirements are specified in six criteria:
Criterion 1: Management
This criterion details the contractual agreements and reporting hierarchy between the Roads
Authority, Weigh Station Management, and Traffic Authority. The section includes the standard
management procedures as well as the reporting and reporting frequency of those procedures.
Asset management and workplace safety is also described.
Criterion 2: Operations
This criterion contains the identification of the operational areas within a Weigh Station. The section
lists the standard procedures with regards to operational procedures, operational procedures at a
satellite facility, operational procedures on other roads, operational contingency procedure, and
Weigh Station visitor protocol.
Criterion 3: Maintenance
This criterion details the identification of maintenance types, the maintenance areas, and the
Maintenance Control Plan. The Maintenance Control Plan includes the standard maintenance
procedures as well as the reporting and reporting frequency of those procedures.
Criterion 4: Incident management and emergency protocol
This criterion describes the Incident Management System. The section also includes the standard
incident management protocols and procedures.
Criterion 5: Environmental management plan
This criterion describes the Environmental Management Plan and Mitigation Measures.
